Today might as well be as Translucent as Light
inside a White Calla Lily
*
I stood inside stillness,
letting it shape around me
the way light pierces a life, a green haze,
and when I stepped out of the stillness,
I was an afterthought,
a memory of light and absence.
*
Time keeps knocking on the door of my heart,
Sooner or later, I will answer.
A shift of wind will answer and depart,
The horizon of love will tilt, one way
or the other.
*
I keep watch over my own solitude,
bending against the winds,
the darker parts of myself
whispering those secrets I never talk about.
I yearn for whatever leaves,
knowing I have to release it.
I can’t stand watching their departure,
knowing how hard it held on for so long,
My longing has lunged around too long.
Now, it seems, not long enough.
